तस्यासीद् विजया नाम विजयार्जितसंपदः। राजधानी बुधैः श्लाघ्या शक्रस्येवामरावती॥ तस्य =  His आसीत् = Was विजया = victorious (fem adj to राजधानी) विजय-अर्जित-संपदः = from victory-earned-wealth = apart from earned riches by conquest राजधानी = capital बुधैः = by learned men श्लाघ्या = praiseworthy (adj to राजधानी) शक्रस्य = of Indra एव = indeed अमरावती = Amaravati He who earned his riches by conquest had the famous Vijayanagara for his capital city, praised by learned men, as Indra's Amaraavati won that of the gods

यद्विभूतिस्तुतौ स्वल्पा लक्ष्मीर्यक्षामरेशयोः। दूरे दुर्योधनादीनां संपत्सादृश्यकल्पना॥ यत्-विभूति-स्तुतौ = which-prosperity-praise = In the praise of the prosperity स्वल्पा = small लक्ष्मीः = prosperity यक्ष-अमरेशयोः = of Kubera-Indra दूरे = far दुर्योधन-आदीनाम् = of Duryodhana-etc. संपत्-सादृश्य-कल्पना = fortune-comparison-thought दुर्योधन-आदीनाम् संपत्-सादृश्य-कल्पना = question of any comparison between the fortunes of persons like Duryodhana When praising his prosperity, the prosperity of Kubera or Indra looked small; and far remote became the question of any comparison between the fortunes of persons like Duryodhana and him.

यस्य सेनातुरङ्गाणां खुरैरुत्थापितं रजः। अकाण्डे राहुसन्देहं मार्ताण्डस्योदपादयत्॥ यस्य = whose सेना-तुरङ्गाणाम् = of the army-horses खुरैः = by the hoofs उत्थापितम् = raised रजः = dust (रजस्) अकाण्डे = unexpectedly (indeclinable) राहु-सन्देहम् = Rahu(eclipse)-doubt मार्ताण्डस्य = of the Sun राहु-सन्देहम् मार्ताण्डस्य = the sun becoming apprehensive of the approach of an eclipse  उदपादयत् = "was born"/arose (past third person singular of उत्-पादयति) The dust raised by the hoofs of his war-horses made the sun apprehensive of an unexpectedly sudden approach of Rahu

बद्धाः सभाङ्गणे यस्य भान्ति स्म जयसिन्धुराः। बन्दीकृता इवाम्भोदा जैत्रयात्रानिरोधिनः॥ बद्धाः = chained सभा-अङ्गणे = hall-ground = grounds of halls यस्य = whose भान्ति स्म = looked जय-सिन्धुराः = victory-elephant = victorious-elephants बन्दीकृताः = imprisoned इव = like अम्भोदाः = clouds जैत्र-यात्रा-निरोधिनः = victory-expedition-preventers = they stood in the way of his triumphal expeditions. Chained in the grounds of his halls, his victorious elephants looked like clouds, imprisoned because they stood in the way of his triumphal expeditions.

1.39

यत्प्रतापानलज्वालामालाकबलिता इव। कीर्तयः शत्रुभूपानामासन् मलिनमूर्तयः॥ यत्-प्रताप-अनल-ज्वाला-माला-कबलिताः = which-prowess-fire-flame-garland-enveloped = enveloped by garlands of flames of the fire of his prowess इव = as if कीर्तयः = reputations शत्रु-भूपानाम् = enemy-kings = royal enemies आसन् = were मलिन-मूर्तयः = dark-appearance = looking dark in appearance The reputations of his royal enemies, as if they were enveloped by garlands of flames of the fire of his prowess, looked dark in appearance. 

1.38

यस्याङ्घ्रिपीठसङ्गर्षरेखालाञ्छितमौलयः। आशास्वरिनृपा एव जयस्तम्भतया स्थिताः॥ यस्य =  whose अङ्घ्रि-पीठ-सङ्घर्ष-रेखा-लाञ्छित-मौलयः = "foot-rest"-stool-rubbing-line-scars-heads =  who bore on their head scars by rubbing against his foot-rest आशासु = quarters अरि-नृपाः = enemy-kings एव = indeed जय-स्तम्भतया = by victory-"state of being a pillar" =  like victory pillars स्थिताः = situated His very enemy-kings who bore on their head scars by rubbing against his foot-rest stood on all quarters as so many pillars of his triumph. 

1.37

कलिकालमहाघर्मप्लुष्टो धर्ममहीरुहः। यस्य दानाम्बुसेकेन पुनरङ्कुरितोऽभवत्॥ कलि-काल-महा-घर्म-प्लुष्टः=Kali-age-great-heat-withered धर्म-मही-रुहः = Dharma-earth-ascended = Tree of Dharma कलि-काल-महा-घर्म-प्लुष्टः धर्म-मही-रुहः =  The tree of Dharma which had withered away by the scorching heat of this Kali age यस्य = whose दान-अम्बु-सेकेन = by charity-water-flowing =  by the water that flowed (from his hands) while making gifts of charity. पुनर्= again अङ्कुरितः = sprouted अभवत् = was/became The tree of Dharma which had withered away by the scorching heat of this Kali age sprouted again by the water that flowed (from his hands) while making gifts of charity.

1.36

लक्ष्मीश्चिराज्जगद्रक्षाजागरूकमुपेत्य यम्। योगनिद्राजडं विष्णुं कदाचिदपि नास्मरत्॥ लक्ष्मीः = Lakshmi (plural as a mark of respect?) चिरात् = after a long time जगत्-रक्षा-जागरूकम् = universe-protection-wakeful =  wakeful in protecting this universe उपेत्य = having come/approached(उपेति) यम् = whom योग-निद्रा-जडम् = yogic-sleep-numb विष्णुम् = Vishnu कदाचित्-अपि = never न = not अस्मरत् = remembered Having after a long time, come to him who was ever wakeful in protecting this universe, Goddess Lakshmi never again remembered Vishnu who was numb, wrapped up in yogic sleep.

1.35

यदीयो दक्षिणः पाणिः कृपाणीग्रहणच्छलात्। अशिक्षत विपक्षश्रीवेणीकर्षणकौशलम्॥ यदीयः = Whose दक्षिणः = right पाणिः = hand कृपाणी-ग्रहण-छलात् = from the sword-taking-ruse अशिक्षत = practised विपक्ष-श्री-वेणी-कर्षण-कौशलम् = opposition-"goddess of prosperity"-braid-drawing-skill His right hand which seemed to be taking the sword was in fact practising the art of drawing, by her braided hair, the goddess of prosperity of his adversaries

परिपन्थिनृपप्राणपवनाहारदारुणः। असृजद् भुजगो यस्य कृपाणः कीर्तिकञ्चुकम्॥ परिपन्थि-नृप-प्राण-पवन-आहार-दारुणः = opposing-king-life-breath-feeding-terrible = terrible looking feasting on the life breath of opposing kings असृजत् = produced भुजगः = serpent यस्य  =whose कृपाणः = sword कीर्ति-कञ्चुकम् = glory-cover The sword wielded by his hand, terrible as it looked, feasting on the life-breath of his royal opponents, begot glory, even as a ferocious serpent feeding on air produces its cover of slough.

यस्य कीर्त्या प्रसर्पन्त्या गुणकर्पूरशालिनः। जगदण्डकरण्डस्य क्षौमकञ्चुलिकायितम्॥ यस्य = whose कीर्त्या = by fame प्रसर्पन्त्या =  by the progressing on/thing प्रसर्पन्त्या कीर्त्या = by the progressing fame गुण-कर्पूर-शालिनः = of the quality-camphor-"endowed one =  who was endowed with good qualities as if it were camphor जगदण्ड-करण्डस्य = universe-basket/"bee-hive" क्षौम-कञ्चुलिकायितम् = "white silk"/linen-"coverlet appearing" By his progressing fame who was endowed with good qualities as if it were camphor and appeared like a coverlet of linen on the basket representing the universe.

1.32

विरोधिवाहिनीनाथविक्षोभणपटीयसा। भुजेन भूभृता यस्य प्राप्ता कीर्तिमयी सुधा॥ विरोधि-वाहिनी-नाथ-विक्षोभण-पटीयसा = by the opposing-army-leader-confounding-mightier(person/thing) भुजेन = by arm विरोधि-वाहिनी-नाथ-विक्षोभण-पटीयसा भुजेन = By the mightier arm which confounded the army generals of his enemies भू-भृता =  by the King(भू-भृत्) यस्य = whose  प्राप्ता = gained  कीर्ति-मयी = fame-full सुधा = nectar By the mightier arm which confounded the army generals of his enemies, fame was won by him, just like the nectar (by the gods) by using the Manthara mountian with which was churned the boundless lord of the rivers

1.31

हृदये चन्दनालेपैः कर्णे मौक्तिककुण्डलैः। सतां मुखे च कर्पूरैर्यस्याभावि यशोभरैः॥३१॥ हृदये = on the chest चन्दन-आलेपैः = by sandal-paste (plural) कर्णे = in the ear मौक्तिक-कुण्डलैः = by pearl-"ear-rings" सताम् = of all the good (subjects) मुखे = in the face च =and कर्पूरैः = by camphor (plural) यस्य = whose अभावि = existed ( भावकर्मणोः लुङ्लकारः (आत्मनेपदम्) of भू/भवति) येन अभावि means which exists यशस्-भरैः = fame-carrier Whose fame was carried in the Sandal paste on the chest, pearl earrings in the ear and camphor in the face of the good (subjects).
